Superintendent Barresi Commended for Eliminating Wasteful Spending

Governor Fallin commended Superintendent Janet Barresi this week in her annual State of the State Address for eliminating wasteful spending and modernizing department resources.

Last year Governor Fallin asked every department to eliminate wasteful spending. During the State of the State address, Governor Fallin recognized Superintendent Barresi for saving $600,000 in 2011 by taking part in the modernization and consolidation of IT systems under the Office of State Finance. This included making all phone lines, email systems, and the website more responsive and customer friendly. The measure will save $4 million over the next six years.

“And that’s a very specific example, Superintendent Barresi, of money that we are saving, money that we can put back towards important needs in education.  Thank you,” Fallin said.
