The State Department of Education will host a free Parent Power Night on June 11, 2012, as part of the department’s Vision 2020 Conference. Parents or other child caregivers can attend breakout sessions that will focus on topics such as college and career planning, ACE for parents, Career Tech, job profiling, parental involvement, what to know about mental illness, understanding your child and the cyber world, and drug abuse.
“We feel that parents and students need an advocate,” said Melodie Fulmer, Executive Director of Parent and Community Engagement. “This gives parents a voice in their child’s life and in their education.”
Registration is free and open to all parents, guardians, caregivers and family members. The event will be from 6 to 7:45 p.m. at the Cox Convention Center. Registration information will be posted on this blog site soon.
