The Oklahoma State Department of education is announcing the recipients of 70 Advanced Placement (AP) Grants, totaling over $500,000.
The grants were approved at the Jan. 23 meeting of the State Board of Education. A panel of over 30 AP teachers and administrators from across the state volunteered their time to review the applications and recommend where to send the awards.
Forty-one “First Time Materials and Equipment Grants,” which help launch the first year of individual AP courses in a school, were approved. In addition, 15 classes received “Second Time Materials and Equipment Grants.” Ten schools received “Vertical Team Grants,” which are used to train teachers of a single subject across different grade levels. And four schools received “Training Grants,” which fund training for faculty members in a single school across multiple subjects.
