21st Century Community Learning Center Grant Process Open

OKLAHOMA CITY (May 12, 2014) – The Oklahoma State Department of Education (OSDE) has opened the 21st Century Community Learning Centers (CCLC) competitive grant process for the 2014-2015 school year. Grants will be awarded pending the availability of federal funds.

The 21st CCLC programs provide safe and engaging learning opportunities during out-of-school time for students attending high-poverty, low-performing schools. This grant program focuses on providing - academic enrichment activities that help students meet state and local achievement standards; a broad array of additional services designed to reinforce and complement the regular academic program; and literacy and related educational development services to the families of children who are served in the program. Programs may offer academic enrichment activities and services such as Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) education, tutoring, health and fitness education, arts, career exploration, mentoring, and character education.

Eligible applicants must propose to serve students who attend a school site that is eligible for designation as a Title I schoolwide program. To be eligible for this designation at least 40 percent of the students must qualify to receive free or reduced-priced meals through the National School Lunch Program. 

Faith-based and community-based organizations are encouraged to apply. A partnership with a local school district is required to be eligible. Local Education Agency (LEA) applicants must demonstrate partnerships with community-based organizations.

All applications must be completed and submitted through an ONLINE process.
