OTISS.Net is Oklahoma's official website for OTISS, the Oklahoma Tiered Intervention System of Support.
This model was developed and is currently supported by the 2011 Oklahoma State Personnel Development Grant (OK SPDG II), a grant from the U.S. Department of Education.
OTISS's primary goal is to improve both student academic and behavioral outcomes using tiers of research-based interventions matched to the needs and levels of students.
The OTISS framework uses the expertise of school professionals and parents in a proactive format that puts students' needs first and bases decisions on data.
RtI is a tiered intervention process that integrates assessment and intervention within a multi-level prevention system to maximize student achievement. With RtI, schools identify students at risk for poor learning outcomes, monitor student progress, provide evidence-based interventions, adjust the intensity and nature of those interventions depending on a student’s responsiveness and may identify students with disabilities.
The Oklahoma State Department of Education supports the RtI Pilot School Program by working with 21 school sites (15 districts) around the state to develop RtI Demonstration Sites. These sites are designed to serve as models to provide further guidance for LEAs interested in implementing RtI. OTISS Supported Sites
PBIS is an operational framework. It is a three-tiered prevention model: primary, secondary, and tertiary. PBIS is not a curriculum rather a decision making framework that guides selection, integration, and implementation of the best evidence-based academic and behavioral practices for improving important behavior and academic outcomes for all students.
Oklahoma Tiered Intervention System of Support (OTISS) is Oklahoma's Response to Intervention (RtI) model that addresses both academics and behavior. Specifically, this model blends PBIS and RtI. This model was developed, and currently supported, through the 2011 Oklahoma State Personnel Development Grant (SPDG II).
The following schools have been selected as PBIS Demonstration Sites by the Oklahoma State Department of Education:
Karie Crews-St.Yves, Tiered Intervention Specialist, Christa Knight, SPDG Project Director, and LaDonna Shirley, Administrative Assistant.
