Welcome to Family and Community Engagement!

The Oklahoma State Department of Education is committed to strengthening and increasing family and community engagement to support student learning. The Office of Family and Community Engagement provides guidance, resources and technical assistance for families, schools, and communities as they work together to build meaningful partnerships that promote student success. Our Core Beliefs

Henderson, Mapp, Johnson, and Davies identify four core beliefs that serve as the foundation for working with families to build authentic partnerships. Our goal is to provide resources and supports for families, for schools and for communities that embrace and demonstrate these foundational beliefs.

Core Belief  1

All parents have dreams for their children and want the best for them.

Core Belief  2

All parents have the capacity to support their children’s learning.

Core Belief  3

Parents and school staff should be equal partners.

Core Belief  4

The responsibility for building partnerships between school and home rests primarily with school staff, especially school leaders.
