Teacher of the Year
The Oklahoma Teacher of the Year Program is coordinated through the Office of the State Superintendent of Public Instruction, Joy Hofmeister. The program is in conjunction with the National Teacher of the Year Program sponsored by the Council of Chief State School Officers and the ING Foundation.
Governor's Christmas Tree Lighting
State Superintendent of Public Instruction Joy Hofmeister welcomes schools to attend the Governor’s Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony, at the Oklahoma State Capitol. All students and the public are invited to attend the lighting of the Capitol tree, which will take place on the south side of the Capitol.
State Superintendent's Student Advisory Council
The Oklahoma State Department of Education holds its Superintendent’s Student Advisory Council with students across the state. All members of the council are nominated by the superintendents of their districts and came to the meeting prepared to discuss their top concerns for public education in Oklahoma.
Achieving More Together: Federal Programs & Tribal Services Summit
The Oklahoma State Department of Education and the Muscogee Nation have partnered to provide a free, one-day professional development conference on topics related to Federal Programs and Tribal Services. School administrators and federal programs representatives are invited to learn more about the consolidated monitoring process, distribution of federal funds, tribal consultation and collaboration, and so much more.
