EngageOK Administrators Conference - November 5, 2019 8:00am-3:30pm

Dear Administrators,

Over the last four years, the Oklahoma State Department of Education (OSDE) has offered statewide professional development for teachers at our EngageOK on the Road summer conferences. Now, I’m pleased to offer a new opportunity for school administrators to help meet your needs and increase the dialogue and collaboration between the state and local districts.

Please join me for the Federal Programs Summit on Monday, Nov. 4, and the EngageOK Administrators Conference on Tuesday, Nov. 5, at the Cox Convention Center in Oklahoma City.

Patrick Rooney, director of evidence-based practices at the U.S. Department of Education, will give the keynote Nov. 4. Breakout sessions will be facilitated by the OSDE Offices of Special Education, School Support, School Personnel Records, Oklahoma Cost Accounting System (OCAS) and Federal Programs.

On Nov. 5, Terri White, commissioner for the Oklahoma Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services, will present on the Oklahoma Needs Prevention Assessment (OPNA), a free survey that provides direction to schools to overcome issues such as alcohol, drugs, mental illness and violence. In addition, United Way CEO Debby Hampton and Oklahoma City Schools Supt. Sean McDaniel will discuss the impact of public-private partnerships providing mental health supports. Additional sessions will address ICAP, accreditation, accountability and legal issues, such as emergency certification, rule updates and Title IX.

Registration to both events is free.

Don’t miss this dynamic opportunity to come together to promote education throughout the state. I look forward to learning more about the challenges in your districts and engaging in further conversation in how we can provide more opportunities for student success.

I hope to see you there!
