Many educators across the state lost a great deal during the severe storms and tornados that occurred in May. To help certified personnel, State Superintendent of Public Instruction Janet Barresi announced today that the State Department of Education will waive the $25 replacement fee for certified educational certificates for those that may have lost their certificates as a result of storm damage from now through the end of the 2013-2014 school year.
“This may seem like a small gesture on our part, but for teachers, librarians and central office staff to have their certificates in hand can be a part of recovery process that helps those individuals return to some type of normalcy,." Barresi said. "Our Oklahoma teachers and educators play a significant role in the lives of their students, and we want to do whatever we can at the State Department to help those professionals put their lives back together.”
Individuals who lost their certified educational certificates in any of the May 2013 storms, may call the Certification Department at the State Department of Education and let the staff know they need to replace their certificate due to storm damage. The replacement fee will be waived. That number is (405) 521-3337.
