Presidential Award for Excellence Announcement

Presidential Awards for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching logoOutstanding science and mathematics teachers are in every school system throughout our State. Help us identify and recognize these hard-working educators by nominating them for the Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching (PAEMST).

The Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science is the highest recognition that a kindergarten through 12th-grade mathematics or science teacher may receive for outstanding teaching in the United States.  Each year, awards are given to mathematics and science teachers from each of the 50 states.

Awardees receive a trip to Washington, D.C., to attend a series of recognition events and professional development opportunities, and a $10,000 award from the National Science Foundation. They also serve as models for their colleagues, inspiration to their communities, and leaders in the improvement of mathematics and science education.

To be eligible for the award this year, teachers must have completed 5 years of Kindergarten through 12th-grade teaching prior to this year and currently be teaching Kindergarten through 6th-grade science or mathematics.

Please go to the PAEMST Web site to complete an online nomination form.
