Spring 2014 Wave Trainings Scheduled

The Oklahoma State Department of Education (OSDE) Student Information Office is conducting Regional In-Person training opportunities in January and February.  The focus of the Spring Training will be the upcoming Spring 2014 Data Certification Projects and best practices for the successful completion of these projects. As with the Spring 2013 projects, the Spring 2014 Data Certification Projects involve certifying student-level data in the Wave that SDE will use to populate the following reports:

  1. SMART Report
  2. Advanced Coursework
  3. Historical Adjusted Graduation Cohort
  4. Drop Out Report

In addition to the reports above, the training will also cover the following topics:

  1. TLE Roster Verification Pilot II
  2. Assessment Correction Window PostCode
  3. ACE End-of-Instruction Cumulative Report
    1. EOI Tests
    2. EOI Alternate Tests
    3. EOI Exemptions
  4. Recap of Fall Reports
    1. Purpose
    2. Lessons Learned
  5. 2013-2014 A-F Report Card Review

See below for the Dates, Times, Locations, and Registration Linksfor the three-hour training session (information about the SDE’s Spring 2014 Wave Training is posted on "The Wave System" page of the SDE website.)

PLEASE NOTE: based on feedback from you and your district colleagues, the SDE will provide the traditional “Wave 101” training as an online course, available on the SDE website for district staff to watch as needed throughout the year.

The following topics will be covered by the “Wave 101” training videos (and NOT at the Spring Wave trainings):

  1. The Wizards (Training provided through the Wave 101 Course on the Wave)
  2. Direct Certification (No change from last year; review documentation under Wave Resources)
  3. Pre-Code (If there are any major changes, these will be covered in a separate training this Spring)
  4. Student Transfer System (No change from last year; review documentation under Wave Resources)
  5. FQSR/ASR (No change from last year; Review Documentation under FQSR/ASR Section of Wave Resources)
  6. Initial Enrollment Prior Participation (No change from last year; review documentation under Wave Resources)

We highly recommend anyone who is not familiar with the Wave watch these training videos prior to attending the session - consider it a prerequisite course to the Spring Wave training session. The Wave training will refer to applications in the Wave 101 course, but will not cover them in detail. The videos are located on the SDE's Student Information page as well as on the Wave Web site under "Resources."
