In light of how important in-person learning is to students and families, the Oklahoma Schools COVID-19 Prevention Project aims to keep schools open and kids learning safely in classrooms by providing free, in-school COVID-19 testing to students who opt in with their parent or guardian’s permission.
Grant Overview
The ELC Reopening Schools Grant (Project 723) is funded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in collaboration with the Oklahoma State Department of Health (OSDH). The Oklahoma State Department of Education (OSDE) is the sub-recipient ensuring funds are disseminated to schools, monitoring grant progress, and reimbursing schools for allowable expenses.
To participate, schools must make a good faith effort to test onsite 5% of the total school population each month for COVID-19. Eligible schools are also able to receive reimbursement for other supplies to implement additional mitigation strategies.
How to Apply
School districts may apply within the Grants Management System (GMS) located on Single Sign-On. Look for the grant name "OK Schls COVID-19 Prevention Proj. 723."
Year 2 applications opened on July 1, 2022. The application will remain open until May 31, 2023, or until all funds have been allocated (whichever comes first).
