Collapse all cells at once

By default, most tables/sheets in the Requirements webpage are collapsed. You can only collapse cells if they are filtered as a group.

If you have expanded one or many objects to review what data is collected by clicking the triangle on the left-hand side of the screen, you can collapse them all at once by first clicking on the “Grouped by 1 field” button.

To collapse all cells at once, press the “Collapse all” button. Once pressed all expanded cells will collapse.

Expand

Expand all cells at once

By default, most tables/sheets in the Requirements webpage are collapsed. You can only collapse cells if they are filtered as a group.

If you have expanded one or many objects to review what data is collected by clicking the triangle on the left-hand side of the screen, you can collapse them all at once by first clicking on the “Grouped by 1 field” button.

Expand a specific cell

Expand cells using Keyboard Shortcuts:

You can expand any individual cell to show its contents in greater detail. When any cell is selected, you can use a keyboard shortcut, press “Shift” and “Space” at the same time to open an expanded version of the cell.

While the specific cell is expanded, you can use your keyboards arrow keys to navigate up, down, left, and right to review the other cells.

Expand cells without using Keyboard Shortcuts

You can expand any individual cell to show its contents in greater detail. When any cell is selected look for the diagonal up and down arrow in either the top right side of the cell to open a larger version of the cell.

Expand a record

Each record (or row) can be expanded to show all of the information related to that record vertically rather than horizontally. When viewing a record in this view, the information will show as a pop-up within your screen so you can review it as a full-size page.

You can accomplish this by clicking on the “diagonal up and down arrows” on the far left-hand side of the row in question. Alternatively, you can use the keyboard shortcut, the “space bar” key anywhere in the row to expand the record.

To go to the next record, use the up or down key on your keyboard or click the “up” or “down” arrow at the top of the pop-up to move to the next record.

Filter

To filter, click the “filter” button at the top of the screen. You can then click the “add filter” button to select the column header that needs the filter applied and the type of filter to be applied.

Group by feature

Add Group By

There are a few tables/sheets in the Requirements webpage that are not grouped by any particular column header. You can group by any column header found within the table/sheet you are in (i.e. “Wave Requirements”, “Code Tables”, etc.).

To use the group by feature, click the “Group” button at the top of your screen.

To group by a header, click the “Pick a field to group by” then select the column header you would like to group by.

You can group by more than one column by clicking the “Pick another field to group by” button.

Remove Group By

By default, many tables/sheets in the Requirements webpage are already grouped by a specific data column header, and that column header is “Object”.

You can remove or update the group by function by clicking on the “Grouped by 1 field” button at the top of the page then clicking the “x” to remove. To add another column header to group by, click the “Pick another field to group by” button and select the column header.

Review Data

There are two ways you can review the data via Airtable:

  1. Use the Airtable just as you would a normal spreadsheet created in Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets, or Apple Pages.
    1. To expand a cell using the keyboard, click here to follow the guide.
    2. To expand a cell using on-screen tools, click here to follow this guide.
  2. To review the data vertically, click here to follow this guide.

Search

Search within a table

To search for something within the table/sheet you are in click the magnifying glass on the far right-hand side of the screen, under the word “Blocks”

Search the entire Airtable

If you are not sure which table/sheet something is in, click the “Blocks” button on the far right-hand side of the screen, above the magnifying glass.

After clicking “Blocks”, some information to the left, revealing a block called “Searching for Something?” where you can type into search box what you are looking for.

Once done typing, you can press the “enter” key on your keyboard or click the magnifying glass to the left of the text you entered to see the results of the search.

Sort

To sort, click the “Sort” button at the top of the screen. You can then click “Pick a field to sort by”. You can choose to have sort go from “A to Z” or “Z to A”. For column headers with numbers “A to Z” would be Smallest to Largest and “Z to A” would be Largest to Smallest.

Airtable

Airtable is a website that allows you to combine the ease of utilizing a spreadsheet with the power of using a database to store, reference and retrieve information. The new Wave Requirements sets to be a tool that can be used not only by student information system vendors but can also be a tool to use as a repository for reporting requirements and guidance.

Review Wave Requirements

To start, scroll down to the table below. You can interact with the table below without leaving this webpage, however, if you would like to review the table in a larger format, click the "View Larger version" button at the bottom right-hand side of the table.

Next to any object below and click the triangle to expand and view the collected data points. Note that this table is interactive and customizable for ease of use. To get back to 

There are two ways you can review the data via Airtable:

    1. To expand a cell using the keyboard, click the cell then click the "Space" key to get more detail 
    2. To expand a cell using on-screen tools, click on the cell and click the blue up and down arrow to get more detail 
  2. To review data vertically, hover over a data point, click on the blue up and down arrow icon to expand the view.
    1. You can alternatively click on the text under "Element / Attribute Name" and click the "Space" key to get more detail

Overview of the Airtable tabs:

  1. Overview of all data points collected in the Wave Requirements tab.
  2. List of code tables in the Code Tables tab.
  3. List of extended elements in the Extended Elements tab.
  4. Any changes between the latest Wave Requirements release and the previously released requirements in the Changes tab.
  5. A condensed list of data points collected for each object and the days each object is requested by the State in the Object List/Request Schedule tab. 
  6. Any documentation or guides pertaining to data collected in the Guides tab.
  7. The list of validations currently applied to a data point in the Validations tab. 
  8. To search the entire Airtable click the "Blocks" button

To search the entire Airtable click the word "Blocks" found on the upper right-hand corner of your screen. Alternatively, you can click the magnifying glass to search for information on the tab you are currently on.
