Program Abstract: Alex Public Schools will provide summer enrichment opportunities for children of Alex Public Schools that have completed PreK up through 8th grade. During our enrichment program, we will utilize this time to build relationships between our counselors, staff and students by creating a safe and comfortable learning space. Older children will act as student ambassadors/leaders for the children in the younger grades. This is a time to focus on students’ social, emotional and physical well-being while participating in a variety of fun and educational activities. Students receive breakfast and lunch on summer enrichment days.

Program Abstract: The Little Chief Afterschool Program is designed to enrich learning for all students in grades Kindergarten-5th. The program will put an emphasis on helping address instructional loss in reading and math due to COVID-19, especially those students who are economically disadvantaged and were disproportionately impacted by the pandemic. Extended reading intervention will be given for students who have been identified as being below grade level in reading and math through the use of hands-on activities, project-based learning, and curriculum. The Program will utilize spaces such as the gym, school library and our primary partner, the Cherokee City County Public Library. All strategies and projects will be aligned with Oklahoma State Standards.

Program Abstract: A large majority of our students who graduate high school plan to live and work in this community and acquiring employment in Caddo County is a bit of a challenge. Building on the current afterschool tutoring program the program expansion will provide job readiness and post-secondary readiness skills, as well as social emotional wellness. Some areas we plan to implement into the afterschool and summer learning program for high school students include carpentry, plumbing, electrical, drivers' education, anatomy, aeronautics, drone certification, CDL and forklift operator’s license, sports officials training, art/music and mental/physical wellness. By allowing students to use youth-voice as a means of determining afterschool offerings, we anticipate that a higher participation rate will be achieved. Through using an evidence-based approach, youth-voice, this out-of-school learning program will build youth motivation, promote learning and self-direction, and make meaningful connections with the adults and community member vested in the program.

Program Abstract: Jenks East Elementary is a community school serving the diverse needs of families in the South Tulsa area. Jenks East has made substantial progress creating a wide array of afterschool and summer offerings that inspire and prepare our students who may otherwise have little access to such opportunities. Expanding program options to our students will increase the opportunity to engage in non-traditional instruction with projects to apply knowledge & skills. Beyond the student learning, it is expected that students will also experience positive changes in their self-confidence, social skills, & mental well-being. In addition to expanding afterschool programming, we will design, plan, and implement the expansion of Trojan Explorers into a Summer Enrichment Camp. This will be a multi-disciplinary camp that would provide four weeks of educational programming with a focus on STEM through a partnership with Tulsa Regional STEM Alliance (TRSA). The importance of STEM in afterschool and summer programming provides the ideal conduit to allow students explore their interests in STEM while acting as a bridge between developmental contexts.

Program Abstract: Millwood Public Schools has created a targeted after-school and summer enrichment plan for bridging the gaps and creating a solid foundation of success for all students. The partnerships between Millwood Public Schools, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts of Western Oklahoma, Go-Go Girls, and STEAM Engine OKC, and Community Health Clinic form a unique approach to serving students' academic, social, and emotional needs. The district is partnering with Go-Go Girls to help address social and emotional deficits and build skills for better mental health and self-awareness. The programs not only teach students life skills, but also introduce students to careers, trades, and create an improved mindset toward education. Through a partnership with Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts of Oklahoma, students participate in a curriculum on how to make good decisions, improve their self-esteem, appreciate diversity and contribute to the community. To ensure that students are receiving early exposure to STEM concepts and careers, the district will contract services with STEAM Engine OKC. At the end of the program, students will culminate a STEAM project that is presented to parents, mentors, and community stakeholders. Through an on-site community health clinic, students will have access to a behavioral health consultant and a licensed professional counselor.

Program Abstract: The 6th and 7th Grade Academy (67GA) and its primary partner, Antioch Temple of Hope Church, along with an active Advisory Committee have collaborated to plan extended day opportunities to meet the needs of students and their families that have been affected by the pandemic. Project S.H.A.P.E. (Socialization, Health, Arts, & Physical Education) is designed to focus on the academic, physical education, and social and emotional needs of our students, again, all of whom have been disproportionately impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. The program will operate afterschool Monday through Thursday from 3:30-5:30 p.m. during the school year. Project SHAPE will encourage interest and expose students to research-based instructional strategies offered by both educators and community members to improve student achievement. Key elements of the project include academics (reading and math); physical education (health, sports and nutrition); and social and emotional supports. Our targeted student population is 150 students in 6th and 7th grades. Healthy snacks and transportation to and from the program will be provided. Service learning will help students develop strong connections to their community. Reading and literacy will be incorporated in all activities. Tutoring and homework assistance will be provided daily during the afterschool program.

Through our partnership with Muskogee Parks and Recreation, ACE is an opportunity for students to continue learning and growing after school through academic support and engagement activities designed to promote social and emotional understanding and health. Our community partnership with Muskogee Parks and Recreation will include working with the Muskogee Teen Center and the Muskogee Youth Volunteer Corps (YVC). Key elements of our partnership include academic enrichment, physical education, arts and crafts, music lessons, and service-learning opportunities. ACE will provide our students with a well-rounded, civic-minded, service-focused academic experience that our students lost during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Our targeted student population is 200 students in kindergarten through fifth grades. When students have a collaborating network of educators and community members involved with their education, the students will have the opportunity to develop habits and attitudes that will prepare them for educational success throughout the school year, college or workforce preparation.

Unlike most after-school programs which focus on elementary students, we recognize the desperate need to intentionally provide older students with positive, safe enrichment opportunities to address critical pandemic related learning loss and provide much needed emotional supports. The program is designed to fill academic achievement gaps, assist in credit recovery and meet the emotional needs of our Junior High and High School students and their families. Enrichment opportunities will include homework assistance and data-driven interventions. Additionally, students will participate in career and job readiness activities. Participants will be exposed to, cooking sessions, greenhouse projects, trap shooting, video and film making, as well as other life skills projects through proper training and certifications necessary. Smithville After-School Enrichment will also include monthly, family style meals that will allow the students' families to participate in an open-house evening to celebrate their accomplishments.

We will use middle-school approved strategies that focus on improving student behavior and social and emotional well-being. While middle school students have newfound independence and crave the autonomy, many still require structure. Our programs will provide a good balance of both so students can go at their own pace. Students will be immersed in extracurricular experiences that focus on building skills, knowledge, and interests. Instructors will incorporate developmentally appropriate, active learning strategies that fully engage students: hands-on activities, group projects, physical movement, and meaningful discussions that give students a chance to voice their opinions. There will also be time for self-reflection, so students have time to process their thoughts and growth. Program Abstract: Central Elementary school will expand, strengthen and broaden the campus after school program through specified enrichment activities focused on improving social and emotional needs, improving family/parental involvement, while adding and emphasizing high quality, small group tutoring tailored specifically to each student and their core area needs, reading and math being the main focuses. The expansion also includes the implementation of a much-needed summer program that will have an intentional focus on STEM activities. Overall, for both after school and summer, this programming will target students who are economically disadvantaged and those who are recognized by regular school day teachers and school administration as having been disproportionately affected by the loss of in-person education during the COVID-19 pandemic. This expansion project involves students and families coming together to build and nurture community garden areas, which is anticipated to respond to the social emotional needs of the local community. The creation of a summer program similarly aligned with the afterschool program, with diversified enrichment activities, and targeted student population focused on reducing the learning loss that occurs during the months when regular classroom time is not occurring.

Program Abstract: Wynnewood Middle School will expand its after school and summer learning opportunities for economically disadvantaged, at-risk, and special needs students in order to improve academic performance, positive behavior, overall health and wellness, and school day attendance. This proposed program expands, strengthens and broadens the current campus after school through specific enrichment activities focused on improving social and emotional needs, improving family/parental involvement, while adding high quality, small group tutoring tailored to each student and their core area needs, ELA being a main focus, as it relates to everything we do. This program will target the students who have been disproportionately affected by the COVID-19 pandemic and resulting school closures, namely those from lower income families and students who have been recognized by regular school day teachers as at risk of failure in core subjects, especially ELA and math. This program provides a unique opportunity for students to be around, work with and learn about animals at the primary partner's ranch as a response to social emotional needs. Equally important, this expansion includes the creation of a Summer STEM camp. STEM education programs are known to increase critical thinking skills, build morale and confidence, help students learn to work as a team, all while improving math and science standardized test scores and increase interest in STEM careers.

Program Abstract: Yale Public Schools is partnering with several community organizations to strengthen our summer activities/learning program for students in grades kindergarten through 8th grade. School staff will provide students with engaging lessons focused on improving student skills in reading and math with mastery of Oklahoma Academic Standards (OAS) as a major focal point. Community organizations will provide additional activities to promote physical, social, and emotional strategies designed to support for all students. Enrichment opportunities will help students to expand their interests and learn many life skills while improving their physical, social, and emotional health. Transportation and meals will be provided to better meet the needs of families in the community.

Program Abstract: Through Y Clubhouse, dedicated Y staff will create positive adult-child relationships and provide a safe space for kids within their community. This comprehensive program will provide daily meals, enrichment activities, homework help, physical activity, and enhanced social-emotional services. Programming will be offered daily afterschool and full days during out-of-school time. Children and families who benefit from Y Clubhouse are not responsible for seeking out this program, rather we will bring it to them and remove barriers related to transportation, access, or knowledge of community services.

Program Abstract: The top priority of our signature program, Graduate Oklahoma (GO) or GO Club, is to keep children safe, healthy, and engaged while in our program. While maintaining a healthy environment, students will be engaged in STEAM, movement, and literacy along with other enriching opportunities. In partnership with Okmulgee Primary School and parents/guardians, we will be focused on supporting at-risk 1st through 4th graders with this signature program.
