Digital Citizenship Resources
Digital Citizenship is the responsible use of technology to engage in social activities. It teaches skills to communicate, collaborate, and act positively on online platforms. Digital citizenship includes knowledge, skills, and practices to protect against harmful content, cyberbullying, privacy risks, scams, and viruses. Any students using devices should be provided instruction in digital citizenship skills.
Common Sense Media- Common Sense Media is dedicated to improving the lives of kids and families by providing the trustworthy information, education, and independent voice they need to thrive in a world of media and technology. They provide a full, free digital citizenship curriculum for all grade levels, K-12.
iSafe-Provides digital citizenship curriculum as well as resources for teachers, students, and parents.
Be Internet Awesome-In a collaboration between Google, the Net Safety Collaborative, and the Internet Keep Safe Coalition, Be Internet Awesome teaches the fundamentals of digital citizenship and online safety.
The Achievery –This free digital platform, created by At&T, provides both digital and “unplugged” activities, aligned to the ISTE Standards for Students, for teaching digital literacy across multiple content areas for all grades K-12.

Children's Internet Protection Act (CIPA)
The Children's Internet Protection Act (CIPA) was enacted by Congress in 2000 to address concerns about children's access to obscene or harmful content over the Internet. CIPA imposes certain requirements on schools or libraries that receive discounts for Internet access or internal connections through the E-rate program – a program that makes certain communications services and products more affordable for eligible schools and libraries.
Oklahoma Student Privacy Alliance (OKSPA)
The Oklahoma Student Privacy Alliance (OKSPA) is a collaboration of Oklahoma school districts that share common concerns around student privacy. The goal of the OKSPA is to set standards of both practice and expectations around student privacy such that all parties involved have a common understanding of expectations.
To this end, the first outcome of the OKSPA is the adoption and implementation of a common Student Data Privacy Agreement to be used by all member schools when implementing any online application. By adopting such a contract all vendors and schools have common expectations when entering into a relationship or implementation without having to renegotiate terms in every new instance.
The OKSPA site will be used to communicate both the districts and vendors that have signed the contract. This will enable all OKSPA member districts to leverage vendor relationships with other member schools to smoothly develop a new relationship.
Oklahoma Society for Technology in Education (OKSTE)
The Oklahoma Society for Technology in Education (OKSTE) provides instructional support, innovative leadership, and professional development as learning communities fuse the science of teaching and learning with EdTech. OKSTE is an ISTE affiliate and will use that relationship to create cadres of learning communities that are innovation leaders in the authentic integration of EdTech in Oklahoma classrooms. Their goal is to determine what challenges districts face and assist in providing little or no-cost solutions to meet those needs.
