FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

The horrific events of September 11, 2001, tested the mettle and resolve of our country while serving as a stark reminder of the cost of freedom and the true value of citizenship. On this anniversary, we are reminded of the firefighters, police, and first responders who courageously risked their lives to rescue those in need, as well as everyday Americans who stepped up to help their neighbors, serving those in need.

Our response did not end there. Thousands of young Americans joined our military to help defend the United States, and Americans everywhere united in greater service to each other.

We must never forget the innocent lives lost and I know Oklahomans everywhere join me in honoring the continued service of our civil servants, first responders, and members of our Armed Forces and their families who sacrifice every day to protect and defend their fellow citizens and the ideals of our great country.
