Oklahoma Is Open for Business with America’s Allies
Oklahoma City, Okla – State Superintendent Ryan Walters signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the Oklahoma State Department of Education and Taiwan today. The MOU is a formal agreement that allows cooperation on educational opportunities, including bringing in visiting Mandarin teachers, classroom level cooperative projects, exchanges and study abroad to promote Mandarin and English for careers in business, STEM fields, diplomacy and national defense.
“Oklahoma education is open for business with international allies of the United States,” said Walters. “We want Oklahoma students learning Mandarin language and culture from free Chinese people, not from the Chinese Communist Party that has carried out covert influence peddling in our education system. Our actions today will enable stronger ties between Oklahoma and Taiwan, leading to greater understanding and sustained economic opportunity for all.”
Oklahoma has many business ties with Taiwan which support Oklahoma students' career opportunities in a vast number of STEM fields.
