Elaine Hutchison is a mathematics instructor, athletics coach, and Rural School Consortium Director from Fairview, Oklahoma. Hutchison is a fourth generation teacher who is National Board Certified, and has 21 years of classroom experience. Elaine graduated from Ames Public Schools in 1988. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Secondary Mathematics Education from Oklahoma State University in 1992. While at OSU, Elaine was a member of the President’s Leadership Council, and was recognized as a Top Ten Freshman and Outstanding Senior Woman.
Elaine is a passionate STEM educator, and was named the 2013 Oklahoma Teacher of the Year. She has developed a strong interest in the use of technology to facilitate differentiated instruction in the classroom, and has taught mathematics courses ranging from 6th grade math and remedial Algebra, to Trigonometry and AP Calculus.
Elaine has additionally coached girls basketball, softball, and track, and was the assistant coach for Fairview High School’s 2012 Class 2A Girls Basketball State Championship team. Elaine is an ardent community volunteer, and was recognized as the YMCA-WNBA Youth Coach of the Year in year in 2008, and Fairview’s Chamber of Commerce Citizen of the Year in 2012.
Elaine’s husband, Troy, is a science teacher. They have two children: a daughter, Sydney, a high school Junior, and a son, Sawyer, a 5th grader.
