State Personnel Development Grant (SPDG)

Oklahoma State Personnel Development Grant

The Oklahoma State Department of Education (OSDE), Special Education Services (SES) has been awarded a five-year grant by the U.S. Department of Education. The 2022 Oklahoma State Personnel Development Grant (OK SPDG IV), which will run from October 2022 until October 2027, is used to assist the OSDE in reforming and improving systems for professional development in order to improve results for children with disabilities.
In order to meet student needs, OK SPDG IV goals are three-pronged:

     • Improve state-level programming.
     • Implement a multi-tiered system of supports (MTSS) in districts             for efficient and effective prevention and intervention instruction.
     • Support early career special educators to become high quality and          remain in the field.

Goals and Activities of OK SPDG IV

Goal 1: Enhace coordination at the OSDE to provide efficient servies on
prevention and intervention programming from OSDE personnel to LEA's.
    • Develop the OKMTSS Framework and Implementation Guide as a 
      support for district implementation of comprehensive prevention     
      and intervention programming.
Goal 2: Expand capcity and efforts to implement tiered supports
through OKMTSS.
    • Provide evidence-based professional development (E-B PD) and 
       coaching to districts and Part C sites to implement
       the OKMTSS Framework.
    • Develop community of practice (CoP) for LEA personnel
Goal 3: Improve quality and rentention of early career special 
    • Provide E-B PD and coaching on evidence-based instructional &   
      engagement practices to early career special educators.
