Student Success Summit gives educators tools to help students start career planning

OKLAHOMA CITY (Oct. 9, 2019) – Nearly 650 educators statewide Monday learned about a tool to better prepare their students for life after high school, as the Oklahoma State Department of Education hosted a Student Success Summit on the Individual Career Academic Planning (ICAP) program.

ICAP is an interactive, student-driven process that encourages kids to evaluate their personal interests and strengths, develop postsecondary goals and create a plan to achieve them. Beginning this school year, ICAP is required statewide for all ninth-graders.

Tulsa school receives prestigious distinction for French dual-language program

TULSA (Oct. 1, 2019) – Eisenhower International School in Tulsa is being recognized for a second time with an international distinction by the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The school received the prestigious Label Franc Education 2019 seal for its French dual-language program for Pre-K through fifth-graders.
State Superintendent of Public Instruction Joy Hofmeister praised the school for its dedication to high-quality curriculum and specialized instruction in French language and cultural proficiency, which has resulted in higher outcomes in English and mathematics.

Math and Science Partnership:

The Oklahoma State Department of Education (OSDE) was responsible for administering the Mathematics and Science Partnership (MSP) program funded under Title II, Part B of the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001. OSDE provided competitive grants to improve the content knowledge of mathematics and science teachers to increase the achievement of their students.
