The term ICAP refers to both a process that helps students engage in academic and career development activities and a product that is created and maintained for students’ academic, career and personal advancement.

Individual Career Academic Plan

An Individual Career Academic Plan (ICAP) uses a multi-year process to guide students as they explore their own career and academic opportunities using career clusters, career pathways and programs of study. An ICAP identifies student interests, skills, secondary/ post-secondary coursework, certificates, credentials, degrees and workforce experiences that lead to a meaningful program of study that charts the progress needed to prepare students for college and career.

The ICAP – developed with collaboration among student, family, and educators – equips students with the awareness, knowledge and skills to create their own individualized, meaningful exploration of college and career opportunities. In order to reflect students’ changing passions, aptitudes, interests, and growth, the ICAP is a flexible, evolving document.
