New Administrative Rules Open for Public Comment

On October 15, 2013, the Oklahoma State Department of Education published a Notice of Rulemaking Intent (NRI) in the Oklahoma Register notifying the public of its intent to amend specific rules. Copies of proposed draft rules and Rule Impact Statements are available at  http://sde.ok.gov/sde/administrative-rules.

Bullying Prevention Town Hall, Oct. 29 in Oklahoma City

The Anti-Bullying Collaboration of Oklahoma City is holding a Town Hall meeting to discuss bullying prevention from From 7 to 8:30 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2013, at Southern Oaks Library, 6900 S Walker Ave. Educators, parents and guardians and members of the public are invited to attend.

Putting an End to Bullying

I have read with horror the recent news accounts about Rebecca Sedwick, a 12-year-old Florida girl who killed herself after what authorities said was unrelenting bullying by other girls in her community.

Such high-profile stories have become all too commonplace over the past few years. In Oklahoma, we’ve had our own tragic examples of children bullied to the point of suicide.

It must stop.

National Math and Science Initiative's AP Program Expands to Tulsa Memorial

The National Math and Science Initiative (NMSI) today celebrated the expansion of its Comprehensive Advanced Placement* (AP) program to Tulsa Memorial High School, thanks to a grant from the Tulsa Community Foundation (TCF), the George Kaiser Family Foundation (GKFF), and the Oklahoma State Department of Education (OSDE).
