2023 Fine Arts Standards

We are excited to share that the new 2023 Oklahoma Academic Standards for Fine Arts are now approved. Districts and teachers can begin to consider how they will begin implementing the standards. 

The 2023 Oklahoma Academic Standards for Fine Arts were created by a dedicated group of Oklahoma arts educators and supporters who wrote and revised the standards. We would like to thank the many other arts educators and stakeholders for their time and expertise in reviewing and providing feedback during the standards review process. The recommended revisions improved the previous dance, drama/theatre, music, visual arts standards and the new media arts standards.

The fine arts team at the Oklahoma State Department of Education is currently working to develop professional development opportunities and resources to support districts and teachers as they implement shifts associated with the standards, including beginning the creation of Oklahoma Fine Arts Curriculum Frameworks in dance, drama/theatre, media arts, music, and visual arts.
