Having strong STEM subject-area foundations will equip students with the necessary knowledge and skills to be college and career ready. The Oklahoma State Department of Education collaborates with Oklahoma educators to develop and identify high-quality resources for teachers and districts. Oklahoma resources include the Oklahoma Computer Science Toolkit, guidance documents and research, virtual professional development modules, and access to instructional communities for professional growth.
Recent legislation (70 O.S. § 11-103.6m) states that beginning in the 2024-2025 school year, all Oklahoma public elementary and middle schools and public elementary and middle charter schools will be required to offer instruction aligned to the Oklahoma Academic Standards for Computer Science (OAS-CS). This statute also states that all public high schools and public charter high schools must offer at least one standalone computer science course.

The Oklahoma State Department of Education is partnering with Bootstrap to equip mathematics teachers with curriculum, pedagogy, and skills to integrate Computer Science into the Pre-Algebra & Algebra 1 sequence, using free Bootstrap materials.
