Oklahoma City, Okla – State Superintendent Ryan Walters visited school district leaders in Ardmore, Plainview, and Marietta today to offer continued support in the wake of last weekend’s severe weather.

“Folks in southern Oklahoma are meeting the challenges they’ve been given head-on,” said Walters. “I am proud our agency is providing resources and assistance to get our schools back up and running while ensuring our students are supported every step of the way.”

Walters Announces Record Turnaround of Failing Schools

Oklahoma City, Okla – State Superintendent Ryan Walters announced today that 117 out of 191 schools showed enough improvement this year to no longer be designated Comprehensive Support and Improvement (CSI) Sites, a federal designation which closely corresponds to the State Report Card “F List.” In last year’s cohort, only 32 schools achieved this distinction.

Oklahoma City, Okla – At today’s Oklahoma State Board of Education meeting, State Superintendent Ryan Walters announced the creation of the Oklahoma State Department of Education (OSDE) Office of School Choice. The new division will function as a one-stop shop for all things related to school choice and parental empowerment in Oklahoma.
