OKLAHOMA CITY (April 1, 2016) – Since it was signed into law on July 1, 2015, the provisions in Senate Bill 711 have provided protection for Oklahoma’s schoolchildren.
Under the measure, a school district superintendent must inform the State Board of Education when a teacher has been recommended for dismissal or has resigned due to grounds that could form the basis for a criminal accusation for sexual misconduct.

OKLAHOMA CITY (March 30, 2016) – The Oklahoma State Department of Education (OSDE) today announced it has secured a $100,000 grant to develop a detailed career-readiness action plan, an essential step in expanding economic opportunity for young people across the state.

OKLAHOMA CITY (March 28, 2016) – The Oklahoma State Department of Education’s Child Nutrition Programs are currently seeking organizations to sponsor this year’s Summer Food Service Program (SFSP), which provides meals to children from underprivileged areas during summer educational or recreational programs. Training dates for sponsors are scheduled for April 13 and April 22.
Lack of proper nutrition during the summer months may set up a cycle of poor performance for Oklahoma children once the school year begins.
PD on Your Plan is an effort to provide educators with professional development in bite size offerings that could be completed by a teacher on their plan period, a group of teachers during a department meeting or a group of educators during a devoted professional learning community (PLC) time.
A series of PD on Your Plan Modules have been developed to assist educators in understanding the Oklahoma Academic Standards for Science and the three dimensions of science embedded in the standards.

The OSDE has been looking for ways to support teachers in their endeavor to align their instruction to the OAS-Science. Seeing the positive feedback for the ELAOK and OKMath Framework sites, we wanted to provide a more digital presence for OKSci. The Oklahoma Science Framework was developed by Oklahoma educators to support their peers with science resources for each grade level or subject.
