Youth Senate Delegates, Alternates Named

The Oklahoma State Department of Education recently announced two state delegates and two alternates to participate in the 51st Annual United States Senate Youth Program.

Selected as delegates are Johnathan Thomas Young of Vian High School in the Vian School District and Emma Jane Hutchison of Putnam City North High School in the Putnam City School District.

First Alternate is Daniel Lee Pae of Lawton High School in the Lawton School District. Second Alternate is Dylan Matthew Oney of Muskogee High School in the Muskogee School District.

State Department of Education Seeks Summer Food Vendors

The Oklahoma State Department of Education is seeking sponsoring organizations for the 2013 Summer Food Service Program (SFSP). Eligible sponsors include public schools, public or governmental agencies, private, non-profit residential summer camps and private, non-profit organizations.

I love that game. I hear responses such as firefighters, doctors, mommies, teachers; you name it. One little girl told me she wanted to be a doctor, the president and a jeweler; she just wasn’t sure she’d have time to be all three.

The goal of education is to produce young people who are fully prepared for the workforce that awaits them outside of high school or college and to help them become fully engaged, productive citizens.

State Dept. of Education Announces New Communications Director

OKLAHOMA CITY (Jan. 10, 2013) – Sherry Fair has been hired as Communications Director at the Oklahoma State Department of Education.

Fair worked for nearly a decade in education as the Communications Director at Oklahoma City Public Schools and as the MAPS for Kids Campaign Manager.
