State Textbook Committee Content Review Teams (Application link below)

The Oklahoma State Department of Education (OSDE) is seeking applicants to serve as content experts for the upcoming subject-cycle review of instructional materials submitted to the Oklahoma State Textbook Committee (STC) for their consideration and approval. 

Individuals selected to serve on the STC Content Review Teams will receive training to review materials utilizing a rubric adopted by the STC and will receive access to all vendor-based materials to review for the subject area they will be asked to review.

Individuals can apply to participate in the following Content Review Teams:

  • PreK-2 Elementary English Language Arts

  • 3-5 Elementary English Language Arts

  • PreK-12 Computer Science

  • PreK-12 Technology Education

Content Review Team Member Expectations

  • Attend virtual meetings on the following dates:

  • June 4, 2021: Orientation

  • July 20-22, 2021: Publisher Presentations

  • November 12, 2021: Committee Approval of Reviews for State Adoption

  • Independently review instructional materials July-October 2021.

  • Meet virtually as needed from July - October 2021, with other content review team members and OSDE staff, outside of school hours, as needed to discuss and reconcile reviews of materials. 

  • Submit final reviews of instructional materials to OSDE staff by October 8, 2021.

Although all meetings are anticipated to occur virtually during the process, The Oklahoma State Department of Education will provide travel reimbursement (mileage, tolls, and/or lodging) and substitute reimbursement for scheduled in-person meetings as needed.

Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must have three years of teaching experience within the disciplinary focus and a current teaching or administrative certificate and meet the following additional requirements to apply:

  • For the PreK-5 Elementary English Language Arts Content Review Team, applicants must have a teaching certificate that allows them to teach English Language Arts in grades PK-5. Administrators, instructional coaches, interventionists, and librarians with relevant experience and expertise are also encouraged to apply.

  • For the Computer Science Content Review Team, applicants with a minimum of three years of computer science teaching experience do not require an active teaching certificate in the area of Computer Science.

  • For the Technology Education Content Review Team, applicants with a minimum of three years of Technology Education teaching experience do not require an active teaching certificate applicable to Technology Education.

Application Deadline

The application process may require approximately 15-20 minutes to complete and includes a brief review of an instructional material sample. Applications must be complete by April 30, 2021, and notifications about selections for content review teams will be made by May 14, 2021.
