A component of the weighted membership of a school district for the calculation of state aid formula funding. The Gifted and Talented Allowable calculation is based on the number of students who scored in the top three percent (3%) on any national standardized test of intellectual ability and those students identified by means of multicriteria evaluation (70 O.S. §18-201.1 [B][2]).

Twelve years ago, your moms and dads snapped pictures of you entering your elementary schools as they wiped tears from their cheeks. You were dressed in your new shoes, new shorts, and new shirts, while donning your new backpacks and lunch pails, selected especially for kindergarten for you by Mom and Dad.

Special Education Child Count

Child Count: A count of students who are enrolled in the LEAs and on an IEP as of October 1 of the fiscal year. In addition to federal reporting, this count is used in allocating State Aid for Special Education.

Welcome to “Year of the Teacher” in Oklahoma

After spending 30 years preparing for the first day of school, it’s a little bittersweet this August as I begin my tenure as the Oklahoma State Teacher of the Year. I miss the excitement and nervousness of the start of a new school year but cherish the opportunity to represent our profession in a new capacity.  Teaching is one of the most well-respected and impactful careers a person can choose, and I am extremely proud to be a teacher.
 

Computer Applications Guidance

This guidance was made available August 2018 to clarify some changes to the Subject Codes list. In short, the removal of Computer Applications 1 and 2 from the Computer Applications list is intended to alert districts to a number of shifts occurring related to Computer Science and post-secondary expectations.
