OKLAHOMA CITY (Feb. 10, 2015) — As part of a comprehensive effort by State Superintendent of Public Instruction Joy Hofmeister to strengthen the work and mission of the Oklahoma State Department of Education (OSDE), education management experts are in Oklahoma City today and tomorrow for a “capacity review” of the agency.
OKLAHOMA CITY (Feb. 7, 2015) — Oklahoma State Superintendent of Public Instruction Joy Hofmeister announced today that the Oklahoma State Department of Education is eliminating field testing on this year’s state writing assessments. The decision will free up valuable time for more classroom instruction.
Since taking office, Supt. Hofmeister has been studying options to relieve excessive testing. Before taking action, she received assurances from testing vendor Measured Progress that eliminating the field tests will have no negative consequences.
OKLAHOMA CITY (Feb. 6, 2015) — Oklahoma State Superintendent of Public Instruction Joy Hofmeister today named a longtime educator to her leadership team, as Cindy Koss, Ed. D., becomes deputy superintendent of academic performance and planning at the Oklahoma State Department of Education (OSDE)
The Oklahoma State Board of Education approved a new FY 2016 budget request for the Oklahoma State Department of Education during its Jan. 29 meeting. This request includes the first step of state Superintendent of Public Instruction Joy Hofmeister’s #OKhigh5 plan, which would bring Oklahoma’s number of instructional school days to the national average and state teacher pay to the regional average.

In his Speed of Trust work Covey states:
OKLAHOMA CITY (Feb. 3, 2015) — The State Department of Education yesterday issued a revised mid-year adjustment reflecting a 1992 law that affects how ad valorem is calculated in state aid to school districts.
Districts were notified last month that the mid-year adjustment released Jan. 15 had not yet factored in the ad valorem change. The delay was unavoidable as SDE staffers worked with the Oklahoma Tax Commission to collect the data necessary.
