Rising Star teachers named at Teacher of the Year ceremony

OKLAHOMA CITY (Sept. 16, 2014) — State Superintendent of Public Instruction Janet Barresi recognized six Rising Star Teachers from across the state during today’s state Teacher of the Year ceremony at the Oklahoma State Fair. Rising Stars are teachers who show an amazing amount of promise in their profession. They are selected in addition to the 12 finalists for the state Teacher of the Year.

Tahlequah math teacher named 2015 Oklahoma Teacher of the Year at State Fair ceremony

OKLAHOMA CITY (Sept. 16, 2014) – Jason Scott Proctor, 35, a Tahlequah high school math teacher, has been named the 2015 Oklahoma Teacher of the Year. State Superintendent of Public Instruction Janet Barresi made the announcement today during a ceremony at the Oklahoma State Fair.

I recently returned my affectionately named “free car” to the State Fair of Oklahoma, and I can't express enough gratitude for this incredible donation over the past year! While I only inched out 17,000 miles, a great summary of the year can be told through that little car.

OKSCIENCE OKMATHOKLAHOMA CITY (Sept. 12, 2014) – Shelena Thomas discovered a problem shortly after she stepped into the old laboratory at Tishomingo High School five years ago. She was just starting her new job teaching chemistry in a newly constructed classroom, but the old lab it replaced still contained vials of old, sometimes unstable chemicals that had been collected over several decades.
