Non-Traditional Route to Special Education Certification (Boot Camp)

Boot Camp is a non-traditional special education certification pathway offering candidates an initial provisional certification that is renewable for up to 2 additional years. This pathway holds post-certification requirements of 18 graduate-level college hours toward a master's degree in special education. Boot Camps are available to candidates through two avenues, Partner Universities or LEA’s promoting district-level boot camps.

Partner Universities

Candidates interested in non-traditional special education certification can apply through one of our Partner Universities Boot Camp Programs!

School Districts now have the freedom to hire, train, and support the best teachers by providing their own District Boot Camp!!

You can submit your Boot Camp Initial District Application for the first year and continue each Boot Camp year by submitting the Boot Camp Renewal District Application

PLEASE NOTE:

If a candidate holds a current and active Oklahoma-issued license, please consult with the Office of Teacher Certification to confirm or verify your eligibility to add special education mild/moderate or severe/profound tests to your Oklahoma license. In some cases, this consultation may discover adding special education certification without participating in a Boot Camp. Additional questions may be directed to Carolyn Thomas.
